Pinot Noir's mutant cousin, Pinot Blanc, only has a short history of growing here in Australia, but this lovely expression of Anton von Klopper shows that in the hands of the right winemaker, we can certainly do this Alsatian variety justice. Anton takes whole bunches of Pinot Blanc, presses them directly to large foudre and leaves the juice to age on its lees to impart a gorgeous, round texture. Lean, mineral and savoury, with undercurrents of floral blossoms, it's a deliciously dry white and one to explore with gusto.
