This Local Hero Barolo 2019 is seriously classy gear that punches well above its weight. In the glass you get claret-red colour with crimson edges, and aromas. Campari, orange peel, new leather, fresh tobacco, rose petal and rich black cherry rolling into rosehip, red cherry, aniseed, cola and fruit peel. The palate is long and layered, all dark cherry and subtle earth, with bold, mouth-filling tannins that are firm, tarry and savoury yet surprisingly supple once it’s had a big splash in the decanter.
