Te Mata Estate Merlot/Cabernets 2023. Hawke’s Bay is a deeply coloured, medium-bodied red that marries plush dark fruit with classic Bordeaux-style structure in a very drinkable package. In the glass you’ll find ripe plum, blackberry and cassis, laced with dried herbs, cedar and a touch of cocoa and spice. The palate is smooth and mid-weight, juicy raspberry and plum wrapped in fine, powdery tannins and fresh acidity, finishing long, savoury and satisfying without feeling heavy.
